KENT, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company announced the promotion of Gregory Ina to vice president and general manager of research, recruiting and human resource development. Davey also announced the promotion of Kathy Doody to director of recruiting and employee development.
Before his recent promotion, Ina served as vice president and general manager of The Davey Institute, the company's premier research, development and innovation division. Ina also recently became a corporate office of Davey Tree. In addition to his previous responsibilities, Ina will now also be responsible for Davey's training and recruiting.
“In this new position, Greg will help us better align the training programs being run through the Institute with our field training,” said Pat Covey, president and chief operating officer. “Greg has a proven track record of streamlining Davey's operating procedures using his analytic and leadership skills.”
Ina holds a master's and bachelor's degree from Kent State University, specializing in geographic information systems. He began his career 21 years ago in the Davey Resource Group as a geographic information systems intern.
Ina will work closely with Doody to align and strengthen the company's recruiting, training and employee development. Specifically, in her new role, Doody will focus on enhancing the company's corporate recruiting strategy and maximizing the capabilities of their internal employee development programs.
Doody joined Davey in 1993 as the tax manager and was promoted in 2001 to the manager of human resources administration. Prior to joining Davey, Doody spent more than 10 years combined in the accounting and employee development fields. She holds a master's degree in accounting from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, a master's degree in education from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor's degree in English from Westminster College.
“In her new role, Kathy will be responsible for our recruiting strategy and implementation. She will remain in charge of establishing, implementing and monitoring all aspects of our talent management programs, including onboarding, performance management, goal management, mentoring, succession planning and recognition programs,” said Covey.
